The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has made a historic leap toward gender equity with the launch of WINGS (Women INspiring Growth in STEM), a scholarship that covers 100% tuition fees for undergraduate women enrolling in STEM disciplines. This ambitious program is set to roll out with the 2026–2027 academic session, thanks to the generous backing of IIT Bombay alumnus Bharat Desai and philanthropist Neerja Sethi. 

Breaking Barriers: Removing Financial Obstacles 

For many aspiring young women, the pursuit of top-tier education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) has been out of reach due to financial constraints. WINGS seeks to break down these barriers by encouraging applications from rural and economically underserved backgrounds. By lifting the burden of tuition, IIT Bombay is not just granting access—it is sending a powerful message: talent, not finances, should determine a student’s future.

IIT Bombay’s WINGS program is about more than removing fees. It’s a catalyst for change that aims to inspire a new generation of female leaders in STEM fields.
