Taking Innovation on the Road: The Robotics Lab on Wheels 

India’s educational landscape is getting a revolutionary upgrade, thanks to the “Robotics Lab on Wheels” initiative by MBD Group. This ambitious program brings world-class robotics and STEM education directly to the doorsteps of students in underprivileged and remote schools—ensuring that innovation and opportunity are not limited by geography or privilege. 

How the Program Works: Mobile Labs, Hands-On Impact 

Launched under the Ashok Malhotra Charitable Trust’s “Love to Learn by MBD” initiative, the Robotics Lab on Wheels features a compact, customized van fitted out with everything needed for experiential STEM learning: Arduino boards, motors, sensors, circuit kits, and robotics sets. Schools don’t need extra infrastructure—this lab comes to them. The roll-out includes a trained facilitator who conducts 24 interactive sessions across ten months, turning regular classrooms into vibrant innovation hubs. Students engage with five thoughtfully structured modules, progressing from robotics basics to advanced topics like IoT and automation. As the sessions wrap up, students are assessed and certified, taking their first formal step into future technologies. 

Bridging the Digital Divide: Confidence, Creativity, and Social Change 

The initiative is more than just about teaching robotics—it’s about nurturing confidence, sparking creativity, and inspiring children to envision and build their own futures. For many, this is the first touchpoint with coding or robotics, making STEM real, tangible, and fun. Leaders like Satish Bala Malhotra, Chairperson of MBD Group, see the van as an “engine of social mobility and equity,” while managing director Monica Malhotra Kandhari emphasizes its role in making every idea count, no matter where a child lives. Over the next five years, the MBD Group aims to reach more than 1,000 schools and educate over 100,000 students, changing the narrative for children who might otherwise have missed out on this future-ready opportunity.
